Winter rye seed, also called cereal rye, works incredibly well as a food plot. Expect quick germination and quick growth in the fall, greenery throughout the winter months, and vigorous growth in the spring. Winter rye seed will remain productive later in the fall and earlier in the spring than any other food plot seed. Winter Rye also is a great attractant for turkeys in the spring months.
- Very quick spring growth
- Low fertility needs, but does respond well to nitrogen applications
- Works well in low pH soils with little fertility
- Can germinate in soil temps as low as 35 degrees
- Longevity: Winter Annual

I can't believe how easily this grew and how much the deer like it. I planted a few acres of this and I consistently have 10-20 deer in my plots every night. Shipping was quick and the seed quality looked better than what I'm used to seeing.
This cereal rye seed always germinates even when in storage for a year or two. It has saved my food plots ruined by drought several times and that's why I trust Elk Mound Seed for any seed I buy..
I did a lot of shopping around on the internet. I finally came across Elk mound seed after trying other seed companies. Elk mound seed has been the quickest and best priced I have found.
