Description
Winter rye seed, also called cereal rye, works incredibly well as a food plot. Expect quick germination and quick growth in the fall, greenery throughout the winter months, and vigorous growth in the spring. Winter rye seed will remain productive later in the fall and earlier in the spring than any other food plot seed. Winter Rye also is a great attractant for turkeys in the spring months.
- Very quick spring growth
- Low fertility needs, but does respond well to nitrogen applications
- Works well in low pH soils with little fertility
- Can germinate in soil temps as low as 35 degrees
- Longevity: Winter Annual

Winter Rye Deer Love it
Winter Rye, deer love it, turkeys too. I am still educating myself on its sustainability in Minnesota from fall to spring.
